University Student Ambassador National Programme on Child Protection - 2026
The University Ambassador National Programme (USANP) is an inspiring and forward-thinking initiative launched by the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) in collaboration with University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka which is designed to cultivate a generation of university students who are not only academically accomplished but also socially responsible and deeply committed to child protection.
Registration is open for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year internal students from any State University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), this volunteer programme offers a unique opportunity to enhance your knowledge, skills, and attitudes around child rights and protection.
This isn't just a short-term initiative - USANP is built for sustainability. The programme envisions embedding child protection values in university communities, nurturing graduates who carry a deep understanding of safeguarding children into their future roles in society. Through workshops, campaigns, and hands-on activities, ambassadors will be equipped to become proactive advocates for change.
USANP is a proud collaboration between the NCPA, UGC, and State Universities, working together to create safer, more informed communities through the empowerment of youth.
Main Objectives
1. To create a youth community who are responsible & accountable on child protection.
2. To create awareness about National Policy on Child Protection among university Students.
3. To develop knowledge, skills & attitudes on child protection to create a child friendly and protective environment for children.
4. To get suggestions & participation of university students in order to minimize & prevent child abuses.
5.To get the participation of university students in the process of decision making in child protection.
6. To get advice to draft policies on child protection & to get contribution to advise government.
7. To provide opportunities of networking with NCPA officers.
8.To get the engagement of university students for raising awareness among school children on child protection, by coordinating them with the School Student Ambassador National Programme.
9. To obtain the contribution of university students to prevent Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Sri Lanka.
10.To get the contribution of university students for child protection during disaster management.
